ASA rules will be followed with the below exceptions:
1. All Players must be at least 13 years old.
2. Dress Code: Modest clothing must be worn. Shorts should not be higher than 4-5 inches above the knees (standing up). Shirts must cover your entire torso and belly.
3. There will be NO metal/steel nor rubber over metal/steel cleats allowed at any time.
4. Any unsportsmanlike conduct (in the umpires or commissioners judgment) will result in an immediate ejection from the game and also carry an additional (1) game suspension to be served immediately for the next game to be played. Unsportsmanlike conduct also includes profanity/swearing or improper gestures.
5. All games will conform to A.S.A rules that are not otherwise covered by league rules.
6. Game time is 7:00pm. Forfeit time is 7:15pm.
7. Teams must have 8 players to start a game, otherwise it will be forfeited. If both teams cannot field 8 players, then both teams will receive a forfeit for that game.
8. Two (2) forfeits in one season will result in teams being removed from the remainder of the season with NO refund.
9. If your game is rained out, please try and reschedule the game prior to your next scheduled game.
10. A ten (10) run per inning rule will be used. If you are down by more than ten (10) runs, then you will be allowed to tie the game only. This applies to the seventh (7) inning as well.
11. The runs ahead rule is fifteen (15) runs ahead after five (5) innings.
12. Courtesy runners may be used one (1) time per inning and must be the last out made or if used in the first (1) inning the last scheduled batter in the lineup when there are no outs.
13. Second team listed on the schedule is the HOME team and is the official scorer.
14. The seeding for the season ending tournament will be based on how your team placed in the final regular season standings.
15. Home Plate/Mat: You must touch the actual plate for scoring. Any legally pitched ball striking any part of the plate or the mat will be a strike.
16. Pitching distance: 50 feet; Base distance: 65 feet
17. Home team will provide a new game ball. Visiting team will provide a good playable ball (must be a league ball).
18. All bases must be provided by the Home team
19. Only 11 players can bat.
20. A player can be added to the lineup if he is late. If a team only has 11 players, and a player is injured and unable to return to the game, he will NOT be out when his spot comes up in the lineup. He may be skipped over.
21. If a batter swings and misses, the base runner is allowed one mercy step.
22. BATS – A bat is considered legal if it has an ASA certification stamp on the bat. ASA is now making some bats illegal that have a 2000 & 2004 ASA certification. For clarity purposes, all bats with the ASA certified markings are considered a legal bat for the Christian Men’s Softball League.
23. Illegal bat: If you come to bat with a bat that’s on the Illegal Bat list, and it is discovered by either the commissioner, the umpire or the defensive team, you are automatically out that time at bat. If you actually hit the ball, and the bat is discovered to be Illegal prior to the next pitched ball, then the batter is out, and runners on base must return to the base they started when that turn took place. The umpire will confiscate the bat until the end of the game.
24. Protests are resolved immediately on the field by either the combination of either both the umpire and commissioner or umpire and coach. ONLY THE TEAM’S COACH may approach the umpire to raise a protest and this must be accomplished in an orderly manner. Any other player approaching the umpire in protest will be ejected from the game at the umpire’s discretion.
25. Official game for weather or darkness is 5 innings or 4 ½ innings if the Home team is ahead. Otherwise the game will be played in its entirety.
26. A player used in the playoffs must have played in at least two (2) regular season games for that team in order to be eligible for the playoff games. The same rule applies for the season ending tournament.
